Owens Signs With Blue Crabs: According to a source, the Blue Crabs have agreed to terms with OF Jeremy Owens. Owens, one of the best center fielders the league has seen while he was with the Somerset Patriots several years ago, was recently released by the Devil Rays.
Almonte Signs Too: Southern Maryland has also apparently signed P Hector Almonte. Almonte, a former Major Leaguer, pitched for the Somerset Patriots for the past two seasons.
In 2006, he showed flashes of being a dominant reliever, with a nasty fastball that was one of the best in the league. However, he seemed to lose a little zip on his fastball last season, and didn't seem to be as effective.
Almonte had recently been in contact with another team in the league, but it's the Blue Crabs that scooped him up.
Coffie Break: Jason Guarente is reporting that the Lancaster Barnstormers have signed INF Ivanon Coffie. Coffie is a former big leaguer, having played for the Baltimore Orioles in 2000.
According to Guarente, Coffie has not played in the United States since 2004.
Reichert To Indians: Southern Maryland P Dan Reichert has been signed by the Cleveland Indians. Reichert is expcted to join Triple-A Buffalo, and becomes the first player in team history to sign with an affiliated club.
San Pedro To White Sox: Camden C Erick San Pedro was signed by the Chicago White Sox. He was hitting a surprising .281, and will report to Double-A. - MA

Owens should of been brought back to somerset he was a great player and man.
They didn't have his rights.
Owens sounds legit, but the Crabs already have five outfielders. Is another move forthcoming, or are they going to keep six OFs?
And sorry for the double post, but I'm starting to get hooked on the Atlantic League. All this player movement just keeps things interesting!
I would have to think a move is being made somewhere...
